Wow! So happy for you and not a little envious. 20 years ago I would have hit you up to set up camp there and cook for you or something. Looking forward to watching your adventure unfold.

Nice !! Beddy beddy nice !!

The pic with shorts and no shirt in the snow, reminds me of me. Been there done that, but without the sauna. hahaha. Of course it was a balmy 20deg at the time, but I was also barefoot. It was after a couple weeks of -30 with big winds for a good -60, so it seemed really warm that day when the sun finally came out. I am hopelessly trapped in the burbs in the AZ desert very near Satan's rectum, and at this point I'd be giddy with two acres of trees, one stream and live in a container hahahaha.

Wouldn't a shipping container be a Faraday cage? Probably a good one so living in one has that benefit.

Container in the toolies ??

Being beyond range may negate the necessity for it be a faraday, but eh, just in case. Not sure it would bother me much if were out of touch and disconnected. Oh, wait. hahaha

I was thinking of you. Yes, that is a huge benefit, and yes I expect to be gone a lot.

But I'll bring back pics.

You on one end, Clif High on the other. Y'all got some ambition! Prioritize. Keep it simple...

Sauna will definitely be a bonus with all the work. Safety first!

It will take as long as it takes but I have had more offers of help than I need. Saunas are easy and reward you by sucking the poisons out. And I love them.

A quick and dirty abode can be easily supplied with a camping trailer. Some of those available for loan amongst my circle. Those have been selling cheap for the past few years for some reason.

Those are all priorities. Fertile land isn't a problem, although I might have to clear some of the canopy. Power is an issue. Again, no sunlight. Water power, maybe, might get a constant breeze through places like that gorge so wind power.

However, the best thing you can do, starting from scratch, is to keep your power requirements low.

In the meantime there are generators. A site survey will reveal all.
